We were placing the crib I had just assembled for their youngest daughter.
My long time customer said, “Oh, I want to tell you the story my other daughter told the other day.”
I knew the other daughter, about 3 years old, because I had assembled two beds for her as she grew older. She plays on the Lego board with shelves I had built and hung on a wall of her bedroom a while back. That picture is at the top of the first blog page.
And I prepped and primed some pallets so she could paint them before I added the hooks for tool storage in the garage. You can see how that turned out up top.
Her story started out with a nice young family. They lived in their nice new house. But then their house broke and, ..it fell down completely. End of story.
The mother asked her “What? That is your story? Their house fell down and that’s it?”
“Oh. No.” Then she retold the story.
“There was a nice young family living in a nice house. But then the house broke. And they called their Lawrence and he fixed it. So now they have a nice house again.”
They decided every family needs a Lawrence.
Wow.
I guess the daughter had seen me fix the wall when a car went too far into the garage. But the house wasn’t in danger of falling down completely. After I worked on it, the house is again nice so you wouldn’t know it had been damaged. I'll tell you that story another time.
Maybe her story isn’t so far off. (Story used with parents' permission and review.)
Feel free to contact Lawrence to play the role in your family's house fixing story.
